Outstanding game for Woodland. They really touched up Kyle Murphy. Nothing overpowering, but enough balls in play to post a couple of solid innings. The breakthrough inning was the 4th, when the Hawks put up a 4-spot, highlighted by a 2-run suicide squeeze bunt by Ryan Mariotti.
Nick Boucher went 2-4 and pitched a great game for the Hawks, allowing just 5 hits.
This proves why you can't anoint a league champ before the season begins. HC will right itself eventually but right now they are struggling big time.
Brief shout out to softball...Seymour beat Naugy today(Tuesday) 1-0 in 16 innings! A Classic. Bogen had 26 strikeouts. Unfortunately I don't have the time to keep up the softball blog this year due to job commitments etc. But the race between Seymour and Naugatuck will be a great one the rest of the way.
Wow what a game is right. I'm going to have to make sure I try to catch the encore(s) of that one. And make sure you don't make yourself a stranger around here, Steve. Whether it's your softball or baseball updates, stick around.
Watertown over Crosby 10-7. Game photos can be found at www.rep-am.com/strikezone.
