Torrington won over Wilby 7-3.
ReplyDeleteWolcott: 5, Woodland: 3 (9 innings)
ReplyDeleteOutstanding game. Spencer Kane pitched into the 7th for the Eagles. Wolcott had a 3-0 lead into the 6th, Hawks scored a run on a groundout. Woodland tied the game up in the bottom of the 7th on a 1-2 single by Ryan Genua. Nick Boucher pitched phenomenally for the Hawks, and he was replaced in the 8th by Jason Skibek. After a scoreless 8th, Skibek was touched up for 2 runs (no help from the umpire at all to say the least) in the 9th and Woodland couldn't answer.
Steve Catalina came in for the 8th and 9th for Wolcott and threw 53 pitches. Wolcott's solid, but Woodland definitely looks stronger than expected.
Sounds like a decent game in Torrington / Wilby. The Raiders get off to a solid start.
ReplyDeleteAnd a fantastic game in Wolcott / Woodland. There is always one game that you wish you had gone to, and this game here was probably the one on Opening Day.
I don't have any other scores right, but when I do, they will be here!
