A few big Thursday/Friday games to end this week:
Thursday-
Crosby at Watertown, 3:30 PM at Deland Field
Wilby at Kennedy, 3:30 PM at Municipal Stadium
Seymour at Torrington, 4:00 PM at Fuessenich Park
Woodland at Ansonia, 6:30 PM at Nolan Field
Friday-
Naugatuck at Crosby, 3:30 PM at Municipal Stadium
Holy Cross at Wolcott, 3:30 PM at Wolcott HS
Sacred Heart at Watertown, 3:30 PM at Deland Field
Lot of good games here. Just on a side note, once again disappointed in the Rep-Am for covering the Torrington/Watertown game instead of Seymour/Woodland, as are most people I've talked to. Seems like they always have something against coming up to the Woods for a real game story...
Anyway, post scores here.

You raise a good point Kyle, but I get the feeling that the Rep-Am does not view out-of-league games such as Seymour / Woodland as very important. Having said that, I do not consider 7 photos taken of Watertown / Torrington to mean they are covering the game at all. And, also, I don't think the Rep-Am really has anything against covering a Woodland game.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they have anything against covering Woodland either, but they should realize the more important game in the scope of the league was definitely in Beacon Falls yesterday. But they never, even in the year the Hawks won the league in 2007, give Woods enough coverage. There's only a couple teams that get a lot of press from the Holy Cross Gazette.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I don't think that getting coverage in the Rep-Am or any newspaper should matter at all. Whether or not they had a reporter present, Woodland still won that game (and still won the league in 2007 for that matter), and that is what matters, not the credit you get for doing it, even though it may be well-deserved in some areas. Keep in mind Kyle that if Woodland was the only team getting the coverage, then other schools would be "complaining" so to speak about the same thing, but you wouldn't.
ReplyDeleteJust saying, the most important game should be covered, and they rarely do it.
ReplyDeleteWoodland beat Ansonia, 6-3.
Other Thursday scores:
ReplyDeleteKennedy 6-3 over Wilby
Watertown 10-9 over Crosby in 8 innings
Seymour 5-1 over Torrington
