  3. My All NVL Team
Pitchers - Steve Catalina, Spencer Kane, Kody Kerski
Infield - Ryan Pelletier, Kyle Murphy, Jay Burns,Chris Mondak
Outfield - Chris Renzoni, Daryl Wilson, Conor Biedfelt
    Catchers - Danny Perez,Jason Skibek

Outstanding Senior - Renzoni, but if Kerski had a few more wins he'd definitely be a contender.

Coach of the year- Scott and/or Kelo..Scott helped the Eagles to an unexpected 15-5 record.

  4. Most of that team looks pretty good, nevereveal. With the couple utility players you can put on the team with those guys, I'll take Nick Boucher and Tim Bessette.

Senior would probably have to be Renzoni, Kerski, or Kane/Catalina.

Coach, I would go with either Kelo or Steele. Kelo lost quite a few guys from the excellent team last year and led them to just one win less than last time. Steele has done a phenomenal job with Woodland, who returned just 3 full-time starters from last year and matched its record. I expected Wolcott to be right about where they ended up, which is the only reason I wouldn't put Scott right there, but nonetheless, well done to him too.

  5. Not a bad list. Just wanted to get some opinions on other guys who might have been talked about.

    Serrano from SH?
    Spadolino from SH?
    Santore the DH from Torrington?
    Rosbrough from Ansonia?

  6. I don't think Sacred Heart did well enough during the season to earn 3 all-league players. They're solid players, but didn't do enough to at least get their team into states, especially after the year they had last year.

Santore is decent, but I think there are better players in the league than him, especially considering he's a DH.

Rosbrough would probably be the next catcher in line for all-league behind Perez and Skibek. He's a pretty solid player.

  7. ok, thats fair enough, just seemed to me, Spadolino and Serrano were tougher outs, but I was discluding the fact that Wilson plays the best centerfield probably in the state.

  8. If I'm not mistaken, Kody Kerski is a junior, not a senior. I can't help but ask what kind of years some of your All-NVL picks had at the plate nevereveal. Don't get me wrong, players like Ryan Pelletier, Kyle Murphy, Daryl Wilson, and Jason Skibek are all great defensive players, but don't forget about the offensive part too. I try to get and read the Republican American every morning, and usually the players with the best hitting performances are in the game summary. I can't say I remember seeing these names all that often in these summaries. And just wondering why Garrett Cornwall of Seymour wouldn't be in the mix for pitching?

  9. Kerski is a senior.

Pelletier had a very good year at the plate, as did Murphy, and Skibek is the best defensive catcher in the league at least, possibly the state, and he batted in the mid-.300's. Wilson is the best base stealer in the league as well as a top leadoff hitter.

Cornwell would be another solid pitcher, probably the next one if they take 4 pitchers. The only reason he might not be considered with the others is because he was normally the second or third starter.

  10. Yeah I guess you're right. I just think that some juniors besides Seymour's Danny Perez should be recognized throughout the league who had some great years at the plate, like Holy Cross's Ryan Plourde, Wolcott's Mike Vaccarelli, Woodland's Kyle Georgia, Naugatuck's Zack Dreher, and even Torrington's Matt Fabiaschi who missed half the season out with mono. I just think that it is difficult for some of these underclassmen who would like to play baseball at the next level to get recognized by colleges when these league honors are simply being handed over to upperclassmen who by the spring of their senior year more than likely know where they are heading next fall. Then again, it is up to the coaches haha.
